Technically, your husband is correct. The original Beatles members were Paul McCartney (on guitar), George Harrison, John Lennon, Stuart Sutcliffe (bass), and Pete Best (drums). Sutcliffe and Pete Best both left the band before they ever recorded with Best being replaced by Ringo Starr.

The original Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best on drums and Stuart Sutcliffe on bass. The group was formed in 1960. In 1961 Sutcliffe left the group and in 1962, Best was replaced by Ringo Starr, becoming the four piece band that rose to international stardom.

The original Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, & Ringo Starr. However, John Lennon joined Paul McCartney's band "The Quarrymen". There were various drummers and then George Harrison came along and they changed their name from "The Quarrymen" to "The Silver Beatles".
