Well, since I study forestry i would recomend these trees for planting between neighbors:
evergreen: Pine(all spicies specialy silver) - it has thick treetop, Tisa, Cypress,
deciduous: poplar - it grows fast, hedges
There are many trees and plants available that could block your home from your neighbors view. I would choose a fast growing & disease resistant variety such as holly, cyprus or anything in the poplar family.
