What tips can you provide on purchasing high heels for the first time?

I am wanting to start wearing high heels when I go out and do not know where to start.

I would start with something with a lower heel with a fairly wide base. You need to train your feet gradually. Wear them around the house for several hours at a time before you take them out to play-- that way you won't be limping for a whole evening on sore feet. Work up to higher, narrower heels.

Go to the store and try on the pairs that you like. Make sure to walk around in them inside the store for at least 5 minutes. If they start feeling uncomfortable within 5 minutes, there's no way you'll be able to wear them for an extended period of time.

I suggest that you find a pair that is about 2 to 3 inches high to start out with so that it is not too uncomfortable.

I would suggest starting with a shorter heel until you get used to walking in them. Try them on, and practice at home before wearing them out.

The best advice is to start with a pair that have relatively low heels, definitely not stilettos or any that are nearing that of a super high heel. Next I would suggest a well made and very comfortable high heel that tou will not be falling off of.

Since you are just starting out you will want to buy something with thick wide heels. They will be easier to balance on and more comfortable. If you want you can also buy some stilettos to start practicing with too.
