A 55 gallon tank would be suffiecient for the Clown Knife Fish, but if you plan on having it for a long term, then you will need a tank that hold up to 300 gallons

You will need at least a 100 gallon tank. That little fish that you buy in a pet store can grow to over 3 feet long.

A clown knife fish can grown up to 40 inches long in the wild, so ideally you should be prepared for this. Using the 1 gallon per inch, this would mean at least a 40 gallon tank for a single fully grown clown knife fish. For a young fish though, you'll be fine with a minimum 48 inch tank.

Clown Knife fish will grow to enormous size. They will grow up to 36". 55gal tank around 10" will be comfortable for them. If you have plan of having clown knife for longer period minimum of 300 gallons tank is better.

Clown Knivefish can grow to a large size but since they are not a particularly active fish, they do not need as large of a tank as you might think. They are generally peaceful and will do well with other fish that are not particularly aggressive. .
