Do not say anything about previous marriages, irresponsible behavior when younger, anything about the bride being pregnant, or anything that is overtly sexual. Other than that, nice and short is the best.

The toast should be short and sweet, as the big day is about the bride and groom and the focus should be on them. NEVER make a joke about one of the couple's ex's or make any offhanded insults, even if meant in a playful way.

Don't say anything about ex-girlfriends or ex-boyfriends. Make sure you know the bride's parents names and thank them for the beautiful evening.

Whatever you do, do not mention and ex girlfriends or boyfriends that the bride and groom had. Also, avoid anything specifically and really embarrassing, unless everyone's already laughing about it. Keep it short and sweet, and remember to wish them much happiness before you wind up the toast and raise your glass.
