Pool filters require maintenance. All of the stuff that ends up inside the filter stays there until it is removed. One way to clean out the filter is to backflush, which forces water back out of the filter onto the ground. If that doesn't work, it may be time to change the material inside the filter, usually sand.

You need to keep a watch on chlorine and try to get it replaced as soon as you can. You can't have a pool without a running filter; before long it will go green on you. You may also want to just use a skimmer as much as you can to get the debris off of hte top.

First make sure that it is plugged in. Next check to see if the skimmer is clogged with debris. Turn off the filter and then remove the cover on the filter housing. Make sure nothing is clogged inside the filter housing. IF none of these suggestions work it may be time to call a professional.

Check the following if your pool filter does not work. First, per a backwash operation. This will remove the DE from the filter screens. Second, ensure that the water pressure is within prescribed pressure ranges. Third, ensure that water is flowing through the filter. This may require that you check the motor and pump assembly.

You should clean it out. You should be able to remove the top of the filter tank and take each filter out and thoroughly clean them. If you are not sure how to do this them it might be best to call someone to come work on your pool for you.
