You need to look for reliability in the brand, and reliability in the manufacturer and the only way to do that is buy name brand items. Look for sales to reduce cost. Stay away from manufacturers that are actually subsidiaries of the big box retailer you're purchasing at. These are scams and they break down at the end of warranty.

Look for the highest contrast ratio possible, best resolution (1080p is the maximum with current technology), and a screen size suitable for the room in which the HDTV will reside.

When shopping for a good cheap HDTV, a person should first decide in what size-range he or she would want their TV to be in. After this, the person should look for trusted brands. Last but not least, the TV must have warranty service.

When shopping for a good HDTV, you can always search online for the best deals and prices. Amazon is a great place to look for tv's at great prices. You will also be able to read reviews on the different televisions. Vizio is a good brand that is reliable and is cheaper than the higher end Sony and Samsung.

Good cheap HDTV s will usually have at least two HDMI inputs. You need them to get the most out of your HDTV. Look For a high contrast ratio the higher the better.

Cheap usually doesn't equal good when it come to electronics. Probably the biggest way to save money is to not get a tv bigger than necessary. Know how high you want your resolution to be as well as the refresh rate. You can save money by buying a large size low resolution tv but of course the picture will suffer.

You want to consider the basic features that are important to you. How do the onboard speakers sound? Are there enough ports for all the cables? Do you play a lot of video games? As basic guidlines, the sounds should not be tinny, the refresh rate should be above 120 hertz and the backlight should be well distributed.
