If it is a pilar cyst these have a tendency to be hereditary and are usually harmless. Reasons to have them removed would be if it gets infected or cosmetic.

If you have a cyst in your chest you should speak with your physician about its location, the necessity to have it checked out further for possible cancer, the steps that would be necessary to do this, and should the cyst be removed. Cysts can be as simple as fluid filled sacs that can cause no further harm.
