Please be aware that the UK can be rather expensive when eating out. McDonalds for two could come to over $35 and taxi fare is more than double US fare.

Something unique about traveling in the United Kingdom is that vehicular traffic travels on the opposite side of the road from what we are used to in the U.S., and it is important to remember when crossing a street on foot.

The most important thing is that traffic runs on the right side of the road. Make sure to look both ways before crossing the street, and look carefully. Most places are pretty safe in the UK, but some inner cities, like in Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham can be dodgy.

You should know that it's a fascinating and historical place to visit! The museums, the castles, the cathedrals, and that British accent--all charming! I highly recommend London, where you get a blend of modern and ancient, but the smaller villages are wonderful, also.
