Antique furniture can easily be damaged, especially if stored in the wrong conditions. If stored in a damp place, like a basement or garage, the furniture will get warped, stained, and will develop a smell that isn't fixable. Do not store it in a location that is too hot like an attic either. A storage unit is the best solution.

I would store it out of direct sunlight and ideally in a climate controlled room at 60-70 degrees. Also cover the entire piece of furniture in plastic.

Antiques furniture should be stored in a dark, dry, cool location. If the furniture is wood, then you must inspect for mold, termites, or any thing else which may damage the wood.

To make sure that antiques are well preserved, you need to store these in a climate controlled unit. Consider a self storage facility that has good security features – individual alarms, CCTV TVs, burglar alarms connected to the local police station and security guards.
