Aspen trees are fairly easy to prune and don't have irreperable harm caused to them very easily. You can prune them in the Spring and Fall.

Always use a good quality pruning shear, don't use trimming shears used for tall grass e.t.c, these are not appropriate for twigs and wood.

Proper maintenance of your aspen trees requires: 1. plan your pruning strategy. Clear yard furniture. 2. prune your aspens in late fall. Prune on winter and gather in spring. 3. cut larger limbs in stages. Cut a small bark on it. 4. make 2nd cut 2 inches from the limb.
