You may want to see another dentist. The drill bit should be easy to locate by X rays. It can be usually extracted without further damage to the tooth, unless it is located deep in the root.

Go to another dentist take an xray, get a copy. If it is there you need to contact the dental board in your state!

You should go back to the dentist who did the work originally. He should remove the drill bit for free.

You should see another dentist for a 2nd opinion. They will be able to take an x-ray and know if the "drill bit" is still in your tooth.
