Cat scratches can be nasty. You need to see a doctor so they can prescribe you antibiotics. In the meantime the area of the scratch needs to be kept clean.

Soak area with hot water - as hot as you can stand - clean scratch thoroughly. Apply antibacterial cream (OTC) and cover loosely with gauze. If more than two days, see a doctor.

If the scratch is only minor, apply antibiotic cream or ointment (preferably with pain reliever to help dull any pain), and put a band aid over the scratch. Keep the wound clean and reapply cream and band aids as needed. If the infection is serious, see your doctor immediately.

You should go to a doctor who can perform a bacterial culture and prescribe the right medication. Usually they become infected, often with Pasturella bacteria, and must be treated with antibiotics such as Augmentin. Infections from cat scratches (especially on the hands) can lead to SERIOUS complications if left untreated.
