The tubes are inserted to allow fluid to drain rather than build up and cause problems. If the fluid is clear, there is no need to be concerned. Fever, pain, yellow-tinged fluid are signs of infection.

In this case it may be a inner ear infection which could be a cause of many things including water in the ear. Depending on the length of time that this has been going on you may have to see a doctor which the doctor can prescribe antibiotics to help heel your infection.

See a doctor immediately. The ear canal is sealed with an extremely thin membrane. This membrane keeps fluid in. The fluid is necessary to transmit vibrations/sound waves to the inner ear. If this is leaking, you could lose your sense of hearing.

If you have had tubes placed in the ears and they are leaking you should contact your doctor. You may have otis media (middle ear infection).

Having tubes placed in the ear can be a bit worrisome, though often helpful experience. To prevent any issues with fluid getting into the inner ear during showering, use cotton balls placed in the ear during showers. After showering, remove the swab and use a q-tip to dry the ear.

Leaking from ears may be because of some infection, allergy or eczeme in ears. Steroid creams are found to soothe this problem. Even it is prescribed by ENT specialists, in some cases it is found that the symptoms reappear as the apllication of this cream is stopped. Your doctor can decide what suits you best. Consult a doctor.

First you need to make sure that this is not just water coming out after being in the water. If not, seek medical attention.

Its very common infection in ears in 30 to 40 % of young children with common cold. This infection is affect in middle ear. So Its called acute otitis media. Risk factor of this infection is runny nose and runny ears. You should avoid the cigarette smoking and give the antibiotics to get relief from this infection.

Reply by malone (4817):
A "runny nose and runny ears" are not "risk factors." They might be symptoms, but as such, as not always present in otitis media. Cigarette smoking is a bad idea for everyone, regardless of age or condition.  add a comment

The idea of tubes in the ears is to allow the fluid to drain so that it does not build up behind the ear drum. If the tubes are fairly new, it may take awhile for the built up drainage to subside. To prevent other types of drainage and possible damage, do not allow water into the ear.
