Note that all labs have some variance on what is considered normal dependent on the lab's specific test. Approximately, normal serum iron levels for women should measure between 40 to 150 mcg/dL or 7.2 to 26.8 mcmol/L. There is also a measure for total binding capacity which should be between 250 to 400 mcg/dL or 45 to 71 mcmol/L.

If your hemoglobin levels are less than 12 an adult female is considered to be anemic. Of course, the normal range will vary from person to person.

Many things can affect a woman's iron level. The proper level for them should be 12.1 to 15.1 grams per deciliter. Anyone who tests outside of that range should should consult their doctor.

A normal blood level for a woman is between 30 and 126 ug/dl. A blood test checking the iron level measures the amount of hemoglobin in red blood cells.
