employment

Question by  tronlife (40)

What options are there for employment for felons?

I am a felon, but I have a new lifestyle now, and am trying to find a job. Nobody will hire me.

You are probably going to have to find someone who doesn't do background checks. Most places will NOT hire felons even if you have changed. You may have to get a job with a private owned small company or ask for a favor from a friend. You may need to be honest about the felony up front.

Contact local offender re-entry programs. Check with local nonprofit shelter and/or food providers for contact information. Some state employment counselors/specialists may also be able to assist.

There are many, most would include hard labour (i. e. construction, landscaping, janitorial work, etc. ). Anything to do with a lot of trust or handling money, it is going to be very difficult, but physical labour jobs you shouldn't have as much trouble finding, depending on who your boss is going to be.

There is nothing you can do to erase your past. Keep applying for jobs, be honest on your applications, and let the employer know what you've done to better yourself.
