Even though disco was a very popular style in the 70's there was also new and different kinds of music starting like rock. In the 70's rock icons such as AC/DC, Kiss, and Boston.

Soul music, particularly the Motown sound and the sound from Philadelphia International was still very popular. Country was beginning to grow in popularity and the rock that we know today as classic rock, the music of AC/DC, Deep Purple and other bands was just rock in those days and it had a large following.

The 1970s had a lot of great music and a lot of bad music. You have the dying breaths of the 1960s with progressive rock, and the beginnings of punk.
