Mononucleosis is an infection by the Epstein-Barr Virus. It is a variety of human herpes virus, meaning that the virus remains dormant in your body forever after infection.

Mono is an extremely infectious and easily spread viral infection. It attacks the lymph nodes and causes sore thought, Swollen glands and high fever. It can be less damaging or severe in younger children and most people will end up getting a form of it in their lifetime. Maybe very mild.
