Felons can find employment. There are no specific areas that are more likely to hire felons. The issue becomes one of what the individual has to offer in terms of education and experience, as well as the nature of the crime, weighed against the risk/benefit to the potential employer. The process would be frustrating but not hopeless.

There are a few job opportunities for convicted felons, like second chance programs that are created especially for people like you. Or you could try explaining to potential employers how you've changed and want to turn your life around. They might be willing to help - don't give up!

I have worked as a Recruiter in several fields. All companies run backgrounds these days. If a prospective employee was honest about their past, frequently I would give them serious consideration. However, if someone checked no felonies on the application and something turned up in the background, for me that was an automatic elimination.

If you are currently under parole your parole officer can help find you employment. If you are not under parole your best bet is to seek out an employment agency or the unemployment office. These people can help you secure employment. Additionally, jobs with little security will employ you and give you some work experience, try construction or fast food.
