What is with color game versions of Pokeman?

Are they a whole different game or just a different color cartridge?

When poke'mon first came out, the color versions all came with different poke'mon to capture. Later, as newer versions came out, each color had it's own legendary poke'mon to catch. The whole point of the versions was to not give you all the poke'mon and force you to trade in orde to "catch'em all."

Different colors in the same series, such as Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, are essentially the same game with different characters available. Different games in different "generations" are different games entirely.

They are actually slightly different from each other. Certain ones have different amounts of certain Pokemon. To get all of them it is necessary to trade with the other color.

The pokemon games are indeed all the same, except that the different color game versions have different pokemon in them.

In a typical Pokemon game set, there are three games. In remake sets, there tend to be two games. Each of the two or three sets of games are different, but the ones within each set are generally the same, with minor differences in plot and the Pokemon you can catch in the wild.

All the games have the same basic levels but they have different pokemon in them. Yellow has pikachu while red and blue had the three main pokemon. Same with the newer ones.
