Send your invitations with all the information about 2 months in advance. Send them to family, friends, coworkers, and anyone you care about.

Send them out 8 weeks before your wedding. Many people send "save-the-dates" a year before their wedding so friends and family can set the date aside, and those that live far can make travel arrangements. Included with the actual invitation should be an RSVP card, so guests can respond to you, telling you whether or not they can come.

First, you send out a save the date, and then about 2 months before the wedding, you send out the actual invitation.

Wedding invitation protocol depends on the individual throwing the wedding. Give the guest ample time to receive the invitations is the main thing.

You put the invitations in two envelopes. You include RSVP cards. You include registry cards. You formerly write out the addresses on the envelopes.
