Snowshoe poles generally have a much wider basket near the tip, preventing the pole to sink too deeply into the snow. Most manufacturers sell these baskets separately. Unlike most alpine or cross country ski poles, snowshoe and trekking poles generally telescope. This allows for different lengths when traveling up or down hill and allows for easy packing.

Snowshoe poles should be cut to aprox two thirds of the users height, one size does not fit all. Have good, comfortable grips to avoid blisters.

Snowshoe poles are different from regular ski poles. The snowshoe poles are wider. They can get deeper in the snow and are adjustable. Since snow shoes are wider and more stable than skis it is best not to use ski poles. You can walk around on the snow without getting bogged.

Snowshoe poles have a wide basket-shaped tip at the end of them in order to stop the pole from penetrating into the snow. By having the wide-shape at the tip of the pole, the pole will remain on top of the snow when weight is applied.
