A tricolor beech tree has leaves having irregular patches or streaks of different shades and colors, mainly green, pink and white. These leaves turn to a copper color in autumn. Both male and female flowers grow on the same tree. This tree grows very slowly.

The uniqueness of the tri color beech tree is in the colors of the leaves. To maintain this color variation the plant needs plenty of sunlight, as it is the photosynthesis production that causes the unique color variation in the leaves. Plant it where it will get plenty of natural light.

A tri color beech tree is unique in that it has three different colors of leaves. They are very beautiful, but don't plant anything for the wrong reason.

Most beech trees are one color and some are varigated with two colors, light and dark green, but a tri color beech tree is unique and not seen very often in general yard landscaping.
