The largest eagle in the Americas is the Harpy Eagle. They are named after the half-woman, half-vulture 'Harpies' from Greek mythology. The female of the species are larger than the males, sometimes growing to over 3 feet tall with a wingspan of over 8 feet.

There are so many diferent eagles on the Earth,that it is very hard to find out exactly which one is the largest. With much bird research and study,scientists have proven that the majority of the bald eagles are larger than any other animal in the world,but in some rare cases the bald eagle is smaller then the sharpey eagle.

Harpy eagles are the largest and most powerful raptor in the bird world they live in the rainforest. They range from 12 to 15 lbs, the females are bigger than the males and can grow to 3 feet tall and have an 8 foot wingspan. They are so large they can eat sloths and monkeys.
