In 1879 there were multiple series produced. You can find these on the Internet between 60 dollars and upwards of 200. Take the coin to multiple appraisers to make sure you are getting a fair price. Sell it to a serious collector if you can; they will pay the most.

An 1879 silver dollar is a very valuable coin, depending on the condition it could bring anywhere upwards of 650.00 each.

Morgan dollars from 1879 go for a very wide range of prices depending on what condition they are graded at. Some go for as low as twenty dollars, and some sell for thousands. You need to have it appraised to find out its true market value.

Prices vary daily and in different places. The "1879" and "silver" both show that it will produce monetary value. A collector of specific silver dollars may place more value on that coin that a standard coin shop or pawn shop would. I believe it would be valued at atleast fifty dollars.
