Hamsters are very prolific animals. They can have anywhere from four to 12 babies per litter. Sometimes when there are to many the mother will kick the weaker ones out of the nest to give the stronger ones a better chance of survival. This is just a part of nature and there's not much you can do.

While hamster litter sizes will vary, regular size hamsters usually have 6-10 babies and the dwarf variety will have 5-6 babies. You may have a litter of 20, though!

When my hamster had baby's, she had about 12 the first time. The seconed time she had 10. I honestly don't think more then 19 is the usual.
