What is the smartest breed of dog?

This is a heated debate among passionate breeders and pet owners. Typically large breed dogs tend to be the smartest, if they are mixed they actually tend to be smarter due to pure bred in breeding.

There is not a clear consensus on what the smartest breed is. Poodles are generally considered very intelligent dogs. German Shepards and Yellow Labs are common service dogs and tend to be intelligent. Working dogs generally tend to be very intelligent (e.g. sheepdogs).
