The charge nurse acts in a supervisory capacity on whatever medical unit s/he is assigned to, and may perform such functions as scheduling other nurses, supervising the quality of their work, or assigning work.

charge nurse performs all of the regular duties a normal nurse provides, but also is in charge of other things such as admissions, dispatching. Mainly reception duties also come to play in this job.

A Charge Nurse (RN) will direct the work of other RNs and LPNs on the floor (assign patients, etc). He/she also controls the med cart/passes meds.
