first; plug the phone cable from your wall telephone to the input of fax machine. then, plug another cable from your fax to your modem connector on your computer.

You can get a two prong telephone plug and plug it into the wall then plug the wires into the two prong telephone plug. That way you can send and recieve faxes easily to the same telephone number. It is a very inexpensive part and relatively easy to find on ebay.
