HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Disease). This retrovirus enters the body. The body issues a response to the white blood cells to kill the virus. Instead, HIV infects and damages these white blood cells. When HIV finally sufficiently lowers the white blood cell count, a patient will become infected with AIDS.

The white blood cells are the cells of the immune system defending the body of the infectious diseases. And HIV are those which attack the immune system and make them weak.
