What is the purpose of the prostate?

The prostate is a walnut-sized gland surrounding the neck of the bladder and the urethra in males. It secretes a thin fluid that forms part of the seminal fluid.

It stores the fluid that sperm uses to travel into a woman as well as protect the sperm so it can live longer through means of reproduction so that you can create children. It also helps expel semen for the same purposes. It is the reason that the fluid that comes out when a male ejaculates is white and creamy.

The prostate produces the fluid that the sperm mixes with in men to create semen. Without the prostate, a man cannot be fertile.
