In computers, an air gap is used to ensure that a network is highly secure and protected. The gap is used to make sure that the network is secure in all aspects and is away from any type of unsecured network.
An air gap is built into structures for insulation purposes. It needs to be at least one inch wide to be effective. A good example is a double glazed window.
