If you want to be good at softball, the best thing you can do is practice softball specific skills. General weight training can be a good supplement, so three days a week for a hour is all you need. For softball, squats, deadlifts, shoulder presses, and pull ups are the best exercises to do.

Typically a weight training regimen for high school softball includes 1 to 2 hours a week in the gym. Anything more than this is truly excessive at the high school level. For softball speed and flexibility are more important than raw muscle mass.

weight train every 2 days, using progressivley hevier weight, hitting different muscle groups between the 2 work out cycle, giving muscles 2 days rest between work outs.

When I played high school ball we would go to the weight room in the morning for an hour. We would spend about ten minutes warming up and then we would spend about another fourty-five min. doing heavy lifting. When doing heavy lifting try to keep the weight semi-light with lots of reps. Then ten min to cooling down.

The proper amount of weight training is an extremely broad topic and is something that should be discussed with your physician as well as a personal trainer. The trainer and the physician will be able to put together a play that is individualized for your personal needs. Taking into account your body type, mass, and goals.

First you need to talk to who ever runs the weight room at your school, they can help get you on a routine. Try to workout every other day, this way your muscles have a day to repair. Your sessions should last at least an hour and focus on your core as well as your leg muscles.
