The Catholic Mass starts with priest coming to the altar and greeting people. Then comes lithurgy of Word - passages from Scripture are read and priest deliver a sermon, usually to explain them. Next part is called lithurgy of Eucharist - during it priest prepares and consecrates wine and bread. Then comes communion, followed by any ending prayers and blessing.

First is the Introductory Rites (greeting) Followed by The Creed, Homily, Intercessions and readings from the Bible. There then is the Eucharist which consists of Preparation, Communion Rite and Eucharist Prayer. At the end of the Mass there is a concluding rite. Mass is usually one hour long.

The service then shifts to the Eucharist, or Communion, beginning with prayers and an offering from the congegration. Only Roman Catholics may take Communion. A Catholic Mass is very ritualistic. There will be a welcome prayers, Bible readings, a sermon, the actual Mass portion and Communion, and then closing prayers. There are times when you are expected to sit, stand, or kneel but there will be a book to help you.

The priest will enter to a hymm or psalm while everyone stands. You will then be seated and listen to a reading from the bible. A short song follows and then another reading. The priest will then deliver a sermon followed by the eucharist. Some prayer follows, announcements are made and then the priest leaves and you follow.

Then the priest gives a sermon. Then gifts are presented, people shake hands to signify peace be with you, followed by communion and a final hymn.
