What is the point of a laptop sleeve?

A sleeve serves several purposes for your laptop. First, it provides an added layer of cushioning to protect against bumps during transportation. Second, it keeps dust and debris from working their way in. Finally, it protects the outside surface from scratches.

If a person is OCD about his/her laptop then a sleeve would definitely protect it from getting wet or getting scratched easily. Another reason is to conceal the laptop from prying eyes I guess.
