That will, perhaps, never be know. Being in bed is very private and I doubt anyone will let you know how long they have stayed there.

The longest time anyone has spent in bed is a lifetime. Some people do get bedridden or very sick to the point that they can't get out of bed.

A lifetime. Some people are bedridden and while some bedridden people are able to be moved to wheelchairs by day, some don't have the means to do that. I was going to say about 6 months - that is how long my Mother was in the hospital this year, but now realize although it seemed like a lifetime, it wasn't.

That question is still on going. There is a man in Mexico that has not been out of bed for over 15 years due to his weight.

I believe that the longest a coma patient has been bedridden was twenty-one years; in 2007, a Polish man awoke from a nineteen year coma. The nursing pioneer, Florence Nightingale, was intermittently bedridden and debilitated for over fifty years - from 1857 to the end of her life in 1910. The reasons for her illness are still unclear.
