Music education provides enjoyment and inspiration to all. Music education teaches students to listen, to work with others, to practice, to be responsible to others, and to be an important part of a group. Music and math are interconnected, and students learn math from music and music from math. Music allows the soul to soar.

The math benefit comes from the auto-counting of a song's meter. Also, learning how to play music, and memorizing notes in their head, allows the person to notice the variety of inflections in someone's voice, allowing them to be better listeners, and friends. There's a plethora of benefits from music!  add a comment

Music education is helpful to develop the mind and teach children about mathematics. Learning to play an instrument allows children the opportunity to learn hand/eye coordination, while singing or creating music fosters creativity and self-expression.

For most children and adults, music education has few direct benefits, since they do not work in the profession. However, the skills of learning focus and to repeat something until excellent at it are useful life skills.

Similar to painting, learning a foreign language or learning advanced mathematics, music brings an entirely new perspective to all aspects of life. It forces the brain to quit using the common thinking patters and to explore new ways. Plus, it is a serious investment on the long term, as it can easily become a life-long hobby.
