How well you heal depends on the extent of the work. Usually, the oral surgeon will give you instructions on what to eat (no seeds!) and to wash out your mouth with saline solution regularly. In some cases, you can get a condition called dry socket, which the surgeon can advise you on. If you get an infection, get antibiotics.

The dentist should send you home with a prescription for a strong pain killer and maybe an antibiotic. Take both as prescribed! Get two ice packs to put on your cheeks to help reduce pain and swelling. Also, be careful to keep the area where they pulled the teeth clean to avoid dry sockets. You'll feel better in a week.

I found that the second day pain was worse then the first day pain. I had all 4 wisdoms pulled at the same time and after about 5 days the pain was very minimal but the jaw was still stiff and I could only eat really soft foods!

The gums have been traumatized by the wisdom teeth being pulled. Rinse with warm salt water several times a day to aid the gums in healing and the holes closing.

It is very painful for about 24 hours. Beyond that it is difficult to eat or brush your teach, but possible to continue with your normal activities. It takes about a week to a week and a half to feel completely recovered.
