First, click on the cell you want to put the equation in to select it. Then put an '=' as the first character you type into the cell. After that equals sign you can type in a math equation that you want solved. Once the equation is typed in press enter and the answer will appear in the cell.

In the empty cell, type the equals sign - this tells Excel that the cell will hold data calculated from other cells. What you put next depends on what data you need to calculate; e. g. "=SUM(A2:A4)" adds the values in cells A2 through A4.

Just use the formula IF(NULL)Then value. As answer you can type what you want. Watch out, that the fields are formatted in text mode. Otherwise the answer could be evaluated as a formula agein. To change that, you can use options fields. Then choose text in the big combo box.

You can either use Excels function button located under the main toolbar or you could put the formula into the empty cell by using an equals sign and then what you wish to calculate following immediately after the equals sign. For more complex equations you can even use parenthesis or ^ for exponents.

There are many formulas for Microsoft Excel. Select the cell you want your total in then for a SUM enter: =SUM(C23:C26). C23, C24, C25 and C26 will be the cells added together. Or you can enter: =A1+A2+A6. This will only add the cells that you have specified together.
