What is the etiquette for addressing wedding invitations to unmarried couples?

I'm not sure what to write on the outside envelope v. what to write on the inside envelope.

Outside envelopes include a courtesy title (Mr., Miss, Ms.), then first and last name of each person, then the address. Inner envelopes contains courtesy title and last name for each.

On the outside you use their first names with his first. Mr. John Smith and Ms. Janet Doe. On the inside, address them as you normally do. Something along the lines of Uncle John and Jane or Johnny and Jane. The envelope gets their formal names, the inside gets their known names.

I would send the envelope addressed to both individuals using both full names: John Smith and Jill Brown. The inside of the envelope should use the full name as well if it is very formal. If not, you can simply say: John and Jill. You could also send them separate invitations but that might offend.

List names on separate lines by alphabetical order of the last name Mr. First Last Miss. First Last inside write it on one line Mr. Last and Miss. Last
