What is the difference in forensic science and criminalistics?

I am not sure I understand why they are different careers.

Criminalists are the technicians that process physical evidence taken at crime scenes. Forensics is the entire science of which your career is one necessary part. This can include Pathologists, etc.

Criminalistics is a field in which various sciences are applied in an effort to solve a crime. This field is also known as forensic science or simply "forensics. "
