The FBI is national law enforcement that hunts down and arrests criminals who cross state lines, such as kidnappers, murderers, drug cartels, whereas the police are local, state, or city law enforcement who are confined to crimes committed in their jurisdiction, such as burglary, robbery, sexual abuse, arson, drug dealing, and driving while intoxicated.
