If you are interested in expanding the scope of your practice, becoming a registered nurse (RN) will provide more clinical training and compensation than a licensed practical nurse (LPN).

LPNs are considered by most to be basic nurses. RNs are considered, by most to be professional nurses. The LPN is legally supposed to provide care for patients who are in stable condition with predictable outcomes, whereas the RN can legally provide care for patients of all acuity ranges.

An RN, or registered nurse will make more money than an LPN which is a licensed practical nurse. A Rn goes through more school, more training, can do more things.

An RN is what we call a Registered Nurse while an LPN is a Licensed Practical Nurse. Of the two, I think the RN's make more money because you have to get a four-year college degree to become an RN. An LPN on the other hand only takes half the time to achieve.

LPN has to attend school for about 1 year and RN has to attend 2 years. It is easier to find a job and financially better to become an RN.

The RN is going to be more advanced nurse than an LPN as it requires a degree and a longer term of study to become a RN. In general a RN will make more money but will spend more money to become licensed than a LPN.
