The main difference is that Advantage works to control full-grown fleas, whereas Frontline also kills flea eggs, and ticks as well. Both use insect-specific nerve agents, but Advantage uses imidacloprid (a nicotene derivative) and Frontline uses fipronil, a highly toxic poison also used as a barrier treatment against termites.

While Advantage and Frontline are both used for the same purpose - flea control - they each use different active ingredients. Advantage can provide relief from bites to your dog within a few minutes and begins killing fleas within an hour. Frontline doesn't begin to work as quickly, but unlike Advantage it also kills ticks.

Advantage Multi for dogs contains the ingrediants 10% Imidacloprid, 1% Moxidectin. Frontline contains Fipronil, S-methoprene. Both are effective in preventing flea infestation for aproximatly a month. Frontline also claims to kill the flea eggs and larvae thereby breaking the life cycle of the infestation.

The main difference is that Advantage claims to be able to kill live fleas, and Frontline says that it also kills the eggs to prevent future infestations on your pet.

The biggest difference is Advantage does not kill ticks and Frontline does. They both kill fleas and they both work very well.

There really is no difference between them other than the name of them they both work really well. The only difference I have found in them is some animals are allergic to one so you have to use the other one.

Nothing they both take care of fleas. Contact your vet and see what they recommend. There are other products that are cheaper and do the same thing. If you have a problem with fleas getting rid of carpeting does good.

Advantage comes in 4 month and 6 month packets, frontline comes in 3 or 6 months. frontline plus also does worms. Some animals will react better to one or the other, and one may last slightly longer on your pet then the other but it is just trial and error. I've also found, advantage tends to be a bit cheaper.

Advantage and Frontline are both topical medications that treat repel fleas, ticks and mosqitoes. Advantage is more expensive because it repels certain parasites that are common in dogs. Frontline only repels bugs.
