What is the difference between a laptop and a notebook?

In my humble opinion, a notebook really is just a smaller, cheaper, and lighter version of a full-fledged laptop.

A laptop is bigger and heavier than the notebook, and has inbuilt removable disk drives. The notebook is slim,low power without inbuilt removable drives and is ideal for travelers.

A laptop is the same as a notebook, the only difference is in the name. I imagine this may depend on the region too, but you can treat those two words as synonyms for all practical purposes.

The thing is there is no difference. It's all about region. US ussually promoites them as notebooks while in Europe they are known as laptops. The same product can be either a laptop or a notebook depending on where it is sold.

Notebooks tend to be smaller than laptops. Notebooks are around 12" or less range and weigh less as well. They're more compact than laptops, and tend to have specifications that are not up to par (performance-wise) as laptops. I think notebooks tend to be more expensive because of its compact size.
