The controversy over the MMR vaccine is based on information obtained in an invalid study by a physician. The physician claimed that the MMR vaccine could cause autism in the young children receiving the vaccines. Despite numerous studies since then, some people still believe that the vaccine causes autism. The MMR vaccine does not cause autism.

They may believe there's a link between the MMR jab and autism. A British doctor claimed that there was a link, but now it's been proven not to be true.

There were several studies in the 1990s that seemed to link the MMR vaccine to autism rates that were rising since the 1980s. The thermiosol, a mercury based preservative in the MMR vaccine, was blamed. These studies were later proven wrong repeatedly, and the thermisol additive is no longer used in vaccine manufacture. The shots are safe.
