Some types of cancer tend to run in families and are believed to be inherited and ovarian cancer is one of them. If you have a family history of ovarian cancer then you may want to consider talking to your doctor about having a hysterectomy to remove the uterus and ovaries to prevent ovarian cancer.

Scientist are not sure of the cause. However, new research shows that the Human Papo Virus may be to blame in some cases. Ovarian cancer may also be hereditary and passed on to daughters in other generations. The only known prevention would be to have a complete hysterectomy. Discuss these options with your physician.

Nobody is quite sure of the cause. It does appear to have genetic links. You often don't experience symptoms until it's too late.

If you don't have ovaries, this cancer is called peritoneal cancer, so although removing ovaries does have some protective effect, even this drastic measure isn't certain. There are always cancer cells in the body, most don't develop. Learn the symptoms of early cancer, and keep reading the news for updates.
