One of the best availible treatment options for gout, is a drug called colchicine, which inhibits microtubules production. Dosages varies from 0. 5 to 0. 6 mg. Another option is a drug called allopurinol or allopurinal, which reduces uric acid production, avoiding the increase of this substance and the deposits on the joints

For acute gout flares, the best medicine is a short high-dose NSAID for the pain and Colchicine (0. 6mg per hour until resolution of symptoms) which helps to reverse the flare.

In my opinion the best drug is colchicine - a medication that has been around for years but when taken as prescribed by the doctor works very well at relieving the pain of gout. Other drugs can upset the stomach and work less well.
