I would use a blown celulose insulation. Many home improvement stores sell the insulation and sometimes throw in the use of the blower machine if you buy enough insulation. Be sure to add baffles to the decking to allow air to circulate from the eave to the roof ridge.

Blown fiberglass insulation works for the whole attic including the eaves and not too expensive. If you want to spend the money and the time you can use the rolled fiber glass insulation and all does well at insulating. The rolled does stay in place better, if stapled and doesn't leave holes.

A good insulator would be foam based. Inserted by a pipe and when dry it sets to a permanent hard coat for many years. It insulates very well and is economical to buy.

The cheapest and easiest way to do it yourself will be to use rolls of fiberglass insulation. You could also use spray in insulation which will fill into crevices better than the rolls.

Put up insulation board and once you have that done you can put up you soffet and make sure you put vents on the roof so the eaves can breathe.

Attic eaves cannot be fully insulated they must breathe,there is a styrofoam insert that must attached to create a airspace before the fiberglass insulation can be installed,fiberglass would be my choice.

Well the best material to use is actually down leaves. Down leaves work very well and provide a lot of warmth. I have been using them for the past 10 years and they work very great indeed. Give these a try and let me know how they work out for you.
