With a male you should wait until he is a yr old. With a female you should wait until her second heat. Also, since pitbulls can vary so greatly in size make sure that the male is not too much bigger than the female and also watch that the head size is not too exagerated.

It's a good idea to wait until they are at least 2 years old, that way any health issues will surface and they will have a chance to mature.

A female dog shouldn't be bred until at least 2 years, and a male shouldn't be bred until at least a year. Before breeding, you need to make sure they meet the breed standard and do health testing to make sure they're of quality to be bred.

Dogs are ready to breed afte they become approximately 1 year old. This is the best time of age to breed your dogs. Check with a local kennel to ensure.

Not Medical Advice: It is better to breed a bitch after her 2nd heat. It is usually better to do before she is 2 her body will be able to bounce back faster then if she was older then that. A male may not be ready to breed until his is more then a year old.

Once the female has had her first menstrual cycle she is than of age to be bred. One year old is a good timeline to breed a female pit bull.
